T-Shirts and Hoodies - Washing & Care
All TechGeeksApparel t-shirts and hoodies are made from 100% heavyweight cotton and printed using DTG (Direct-to-Garment) printing. DTG ink bonds directly into the fabric fibres rather than sitting on top of them -- which means the print is more durable than screen printing when the garment is washed correctly.
Washing
- Turn the garment inside out before every wash. This is the single most important step — the abrasion from the wash cycle happens on the inner surface, protecting the print on the outside.
- Use cold or cool water. Maximum 30°C (86°F). Hot water causes cotton to shrink and weakens the ink bond over time.
- Select the gentle or delicate cycle. Standard and heavy cycles create too much mechanical agitation for printed garments.
- Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid bleach, optical brighteners, and fabric softener — all three damage DTG print quality over repeated washes.
- Don’t wash with heavy items. Keep t-shirts with t-shirts, or other lightweight garments. Jeans and towels create friction that damages lighter fabrics.
Drying
- If you use a dryer, use the lowest heat setting. Remove the garment while still slightly damp — overdrying causes shrinkage and stiffness.
- Never tumble dry on high heat. It is the leading cause of premature print fading and cotton shrinkage.
- Air dry where possible. Lay flat or hang on a wide hanger, inside out, away from direct sunlight. This is the single biggest factor in how long a print stays sharp.
- When hanging: thread the hanger through the bottom of the shirt, not over the neckline. The weight of a damp garment will stretch the neckline if hung from the top.
Ironing
- Always iron inside out. Never apply the iron directly to the printed design.
- Use the lowest effective heat setting. If unsure, start on the silk/synthetic setting and increase slowly.
- Steaming is safer than ironing. A handheld steamer removes wrinkles without any risk of direct heat contact with the print.
- If ironing the front: place a clean cotton cloth between the iron and the garment at all times.
Stain Removal
- Act immediately — cotton absorbs liquid quickly. Blot, don’t rub.
- Apply stain remover away from the print area where possible. If the stain is on the print, work from the inside of the fabric.
- Never use bleach on a printed garment. It destroys both cotton fibres and DTG ink.
- After treating: wash as normal — cold, gentle cycle, inside out.
Storage
- Fold rather than hang for long-term storage. Hanging causes the neckline to stretch over time.
- Store away from direct sunlight. UV light fades fabric colour and printed designs.
- Make sure garments are fully dry before storing. Storing slightly damp creates conditions for mildew.

Mugs - Washing & Care
TechGeeksApparel mugs use a high-quality sublimation printing process that bonds colour deep into the mug coating. With correct care, the design will not fade, crack or peel.
Dishwasher Use
- Top rack only. The lower rack in most dishwashers reaches temperatures that can damage sublimation prints over time.
- Use a standard dishwasher detergent. Avoid tablets or pods with extra bleaching agents.
- Do not use the ‘heated dry’ or ‘sanitise’ cycle. Let mugs air dry or towel dry after the wash cycle.
- If your dishwasher has an ‘eco’ or ‘gentle’ setting, use it for mugs.
Hand Washing (preferred for long-term print preservation)
- Warm water and a small amount of washing-up liquid. A soft sponge or cloth only – no abrasive scrubbing pads.
- Do not scrub the printed design area vigorously. Wipe gently.
- Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth or air dry.
What to Avoid
- Do not microwave mugs with metallic design elements. Standard ceramic mugs without metallic details are microwave safe.
- Do not use bleach-based cleaners or abrasive cleaning products on the printed area.
- Do not soak in very hot water for extended periods.
Desk Mats - Care Instructions
Desk mats are made from a stitched edge fabric surface with a non-slip rubber base. They are not waterproof but are resistant to light spills when wiped promptly.
Cleaning
- Surface spot cleaning: use a damp cloth with a small amount of mild soap. Wipe gently in the direction of the surface texture.
- Do not scrub or use abrasive materials on the printed surface — it will damage the print quality and surface texture.
- For more thorough cleaning: hand wash in cool water with mild detergent. Do not wring – roll inside a clean towel to remove excess water.
- Air dry completely before placing back on a desk. Do not fold while damp.
What to Avoid
- Do not machine wash. The rubber base and stitched edges are not designed for machine washing.
- Do not tumble dry. Heat damages both the rubber base and the printed surface.
- Do not iron.
- Do not expose to prolonged direct sunlight — the print will fade over time.
Stickers - Durability & Application
TechGeeksApparel stickers are printed on durable vinyl with a waterproof, UV-resistant laminate coating. They are designed for long-term outdoor and indoor use.
Application
- Clean the surface before applying. Remove dust, grease or moisture completely – this is the biggest factor in how long the sticker adheres.
- Apply firmly from the centre outward, pressing to remove air bubbles.
- Allow 24 hours before exposing to water or direct sunlight for maximum adhesion.
Durability
- Waterproof and suitable for outdoor use, water bottles, laptops, car windows and similar surfaces.
- UV-resistant coating prevents significant fading for 2-3 years under normal outdoor conditions.
- Dishwasher exposure (on water bottles, for example): the adhesive will weaken over multiple dishwasher cycles. Hand washing the item the sticker is on extends the sticker life significantly.
Removal
- Gently peel from one corner at a low angle. Heat from a hairdryer (10-15 seconds on low) softens the adhesive and makes removal cleaner on most surfaces.
- Any adhesive residue can be removed with rubbing alcohol or a dedicated adhesive remover on most surfaces.
